Mr. Dang has taken leading roles at trial and notched victories. In 2024, he represented plaintiff IBM in a patent infringement trial against Zynga, a mobile game developer. He led IBM’s damages case at trial, conducting the direct examination of an IBM licensing executive and two of IBM’s experts, and cross-examining Zynga’s damages expert. At the end of trial, the jury returned a verdict of willful infringement in IBM’s favor, and awarded IBM damages of $44.9 million.
In addition to his trial work, Mr. Dang has also represented clients in appeals before the United States Supreme Court, the Second, Ninth, and Federal Circuits, and the Delaware Supreme Court. Additionally, Mr. Dang has experience with inter partes and post-grant review petitions before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.
Mr. Dang was recently recognized in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America 2026 for his work in patent and intellectual property litigation.
Before joining Desmarais LLP, Mr. Dang clerked on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals for Judge Diarmuid O’Scannlain and was an associate at Williams & Connolly LLP. During law school, he served as an executive editor for the Harvard Business Law Review and as a research assistant for Professor Louis Kaplow. Mr. Dang also represented indigent defendants in criminal matters as part of the Harvard Criminal Justice Institute.
