During law school, Mr. Ryskamp served as the Founding Editor-in-Chief of the George Washington Journal of Law & Technology where he led the creation of the journal, the publication of its first issue, and the organization of its inaugural symposium. He also served on The George Washington Law Review and on the board of the Student Intellectual Property Law Association. He joined the Giles S. Rich Inn of Court during law school where he remains an active member.
Prior to law school, Mr. Ryskamp was an entrepreneur and inventor. He holds seven patents in telecommunications and artificial intelligence. As a business owner, he successfully litigated patent disputes on behalf of his company. Early in his career, he invented a business telecommunications system that was sold in Costco, Staples, and other retail stores, earning the Utah Innovation Award for Computer Software in 2007. He later sold another one of his telecommunications companies, with the associated patents, to a public corporation in a multimillion-dollar transaction. In 2014, he began working in the field of artificial intelligence, where he holds three patents. His artificial intelligence system won the 2017 AIconics Award for Best Innovation in Deep Learning.
