Joanna Schacter is a trial lawyer whose practice focuses on complex patent disputes. Her experience has spanned all phases of litigation and a variety of technologies, with a particular focus on biotechnology, in both district court and the International Trade Commission. Joanna’s experience includes drafting motions and briefs, leading economic damages analyses, taking and defending depositions, preparing expert reports, and preparing deposition and trial witnesses. Her work has contributed to several successful trial and settlement outcomes.

Before joining Desmarais LLP, Joanna worked as an associate at Tensegrity Law Group, a patent trial litigation firm, and as an IP associate at White & Case LLP. In law school, she completed a full-time externship as a New York Court of Appeals Pro Bono Scholar at the Center for Appellate Litigation. She was also Notes Editor for the Cornell Journal of Law and Public Policy, in which she was also published on aircraft regulation. This publication has been widely cited by other legal scholarship and included in syllabi for courses on engineering ethics.
