Desmarais LLP earned nominations in five categories for the Managing IP Americas Awards 2026, which recognizes the firm’s recent string of victories in the district and appellate courts and before the International Trade Commission and Patent Trial and Appeal Board.
These wins include a patent infringement verdict for a major consumer electronics company in a dispute involving smartwatches; a full defense verdict of noninfringement that eliminated $361 million in alleged patent damages for a major consumer electronics company; a $44.9 million damages verdict secured for a patentee related to interactive services; and a favorable initial determination following an ITC evidentiary hearing that found a global pharmaceutical company’s patents were infringed. The firm also protected more than $429.5 million in damages by winning three appeals before the Federal Circuit for a patentee, as well as an appellate win for an accused infringer to preserve a summary judgment victory eliminating billions in patent infringement claims.
The annual Managing IP Americas Awards program highlights the industry’s leading law firms in their various practice areas and across more than 50 jurisdictions. Researchers assess thousands of intellectual property-focused firms and practitioners. Managing IP then compiles the shortlists based on information provided by the firms, client feedback, and reviews of public case records.
