Paul Bondor Named President of NYIPLA

Accolades

Desmarais LLP is pleased to announce that partner Paul Bondor has been appointed President of the New York Intellectual Property Law Association (NYIPLA), one of the nation’s leading professional organizations for intellectual property practitioners.

Bondor, a first-chair trial lawyer, has handled scores of patent infringement and technology-related disputes for both plaintiffs and defendants. His experience spans a wide range of industries, including semiconductors, software, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices, and he has represented clients in federal courts, before the International Trade Commission, and in international tribunals.

Over the course of his career, Bondor has delivered significant results in high-stakes IP matters, including trial victories, pre-trial resolutions, and licensing outcomes. His litigation results include some of the largest patent trial verdicts in history, including a $1.54 billion verdict on behalf of Lucent Technologies – widely reported at the time to be the largest patent jury verdict in history.

Founded more than a century ago, the NYIPLA brings together law firm partners, in-house counsel, judges, policymakers, and other IP leaders, serving as a key forum for professional development, industry dialogue, and policy discussion. The organization has more than 1,500 members and plays an active role in shaping conversations around patent law, litigation trends, and emerging technology issues.

Bondor previously served as President-Elect of the NYIPLA and assumed the role of President at the organization’s annual meeting on May 20, 2026.
