Bindu Donovan, Leslie Spencer Named to Benchmark’s 2021 ‘Top 250 Women in Litigation’

Accolades

Benchmark Litigation has selected Desmarais LLP partners Bindu Donovan and Leslie Spencer to its “Top 250 Women in Litigation” for 2021.

The 2021 honorees received the recognition following an extensive six-month review process, which included assessing applicants’ professional activities, gathering feedback from clients, and conducting one-on-one interviews to highlight the “most distinguished women in the world of litigation,” according to Benchmark.

“These women have earned their place amongst the leading female litigators by participating in some of the most impactful litigation matters in recent history as well as by earning the hard-won respect of their peers and clients,” Benchmark said in its announcement.

Bindu Donovan’s practice focuses on life sciences litigation, where she represents some of the world’s biggest pharmaceutical and medical device companies in high-stakes patent disputes, including litigation brought by innovator companies under the Hatch-Waxman Act. Donovan has more than two decades of experience handling these cases, serving as trial and litigation counsel in patent disputes involving treatments for cancer, influenza, diabetes, and neurological, and ophthalmic disorders, as well as matters related to biotechnology, radiofrequency ablation probes, and drug-eluting stents.

Leslie Spencer’s practice focuses on representing clients across a wide range of technologies in intellectual property disputes, including computer software, automotive technology, network communications, encryption and security protocols, semiconductors, and healthcare technology. Spencer has spent more than 20 years litigating patent disputes in the federal courts, with extensive experience in all phases of litigation, including Markman, expert discovery, Daubert and summary judgment motions, and trials. She also appears before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB).
