Betty Chen

The Recorder honored Desmarais LLP partner Betty Chen as one of its 2025 Women Leaders in Tech Law (Intellectual Property) as part of its annual California Legal Awards.
 
The recognition highlights women attorneys who have managed significant cases impacting both major technology companies and start-ups in the industry. The Recorder selected the honorees based on how their recent accomplishments have impacted technology companies and their efforts to ensure all women attorneys advance in the technology sector.
 
Chen’s recent accomplishments include successfully defending a leading software company against patent infringement claims related to content delivery network technology, earning a summary judgment of non-infringement ruling. She is also leading major patent litigation involving artificial intelligence and overseeing a separate patent case related to photodynamic therapy light devices, which includes litigation both in the district courts and before the International Trade Commission.
