Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) recognized Desmarais LLP with its Pro Bono Team of the Year Award for Northern Virginia, highlighting partner David Shaw and assistants Lauretta Camara, Sofia Ibanez, and Amanda Sanchez-Martinez for their work representing immigrant children.
“These attorneys, law firms, and volunteers go above and beyond to ensure that unaccompanied and separated children seeking safety in the United States are met with care, dignity, and expert legal representation,” KIND said in a statement announcing its 2025 Pro Bono Award honorees.
KIND’s field offices each selected the 2025 winners, choosing the teams that have made a significant impact in protecting children’s rights through their achievements in cases and their dedication to mentoring the next generation of volunteers.
“We extend our deepest gratitude to each of our 2025 award recipients for their unwavering commitment to justice and to the children we serve,” KIND said in its statement.
