Desmarais LLP Receives Cisco’s Firm of the Year Award

Accolades

Cisco Systems Inc. has honored Desmarais LLP with its Firm of the Year Award for helping secure several major legal victories for the company during the last 12 months.

“With this award, Cisco acknowledges the law firm that has provided exemplary legal services and achieved outstanding successes in key litigation matters for Cisco,” the company said in an announcement about the award, which is also called the Excellence in Partnering Award.

These victories include a $400 million settlement with Arista Networks in August 2018; a summary judgment win against Straight Path IP Group in December 2017; and an ex parte reexamination of a patent in a case involving XpertUniverse.

“We greatly value the team’s willingness to jump in, at a moment’s notice, to provide counsel on complex legal matters, which only adds to the great partnership our team has built with [Desmarais LLP],” said Leslie McKnew, Cisco’s Vice President of Litigation, in the announcement.

The announcement also noted that Desmarais LLP’s top-notch talent sets it apart in the industry; that strong teamwork at the firm has been critical to achieve these impressive victories; and that Cisco looks forward to what it will accomplish with the firm in the coming year.

“We are very honored to receive the award and grateful to Cisco for the recognition,” said John Desmarais, founding partner of Desmarais LLP. “Cisco is one of the world’s most innovative technology companies, and we are proud to represent it. We are very pleased by our successes during the past year and are excited about what we will achieve together in the future.”
