Desmarais LLP Secures Pro Bono Victory On Behalf of Military Veteran

Pro Bono

Desmarais LLP secured a pro bono victory on behalf of our client, an honorably discharged veteran, in a dispute with the US Department of Veterans Affairs (“VA”).  The VA denied our client’s claim for disability connected to his service in the Army and Navy, which he appealed to the US Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims (“CAVC”).  (Stanley v. Wilkie, Vet. App. No. 18-3211.)  The Desmarais LLP team convinced the VA—without briefing—to reopen proceedings on our client’s claim.  As a result, the CAVC remanded our client’s claim back to the VA.  Members of the team include Raymond Habbaz and Chris Moyer.  Desmarais LLP is pleased to partner with the Veterans Consortium Pro Bono Program in assisting veterans with appeals to the CAVC.
