Recently, Mr. Stadnick represented Enzo Life Sciences, Inc. in several litigations concerning nucleic acid probe technology that resulted in settlements yielding nearly $100 million.
Mr. Stadnick and others from Desmarais LLP secured a complete defense verdict for Cisco Systems against VirnetX Inc. in a case where VirnetX sought over $250 million in damages.
Along with John Desmarais, Mr. Stadnick and other Desmarais LLP attorneys won a then record-setting $1.54 billion jury verdict on behalf of Lucent Technologies against software giant Microsoft Corporation—a result widely reported at the time as the largest patent jury verdict in history. In another patent infringement jury trial, also on behalf of Lucent Technologies against Microsoft, Mr. Stadnick and others from Desmarais LLP won a favorable jury verdict and judgment totaling $512 million, at the time one of the top five largest patent verdicts in history. Later, Mr. Stadnick and other Desmarais LLP attorneys also successfully obtained a complete defense verdict for Lucent Technologies against Microsoft in a case involving over a dozen Microsoft patents.
Early in his career, Mr. Stadnick helped lead the successful defense of Infineon Technologies against Rambus Inc. in a case that resulted in dismissal based on litigation misconduct and unclean hands.
Prior to co-founding Desmarais LLP, Mr. Stadnick practiced as a partner in the Intellectual Property group of Kirkland & Ellis LLP.
