Desmarais LLP partners Bindu Donovan and Leslie Spencer have been named to Benchmark Litigation’s “Top 250 Women in Litigation” for 2022.

Benchmark arrived at its “Top 250 Women in Litigation” list after a months-long review process that included assessing candidates’ recent casework, conducting one-on-one interviews, and gathering client feedback. Researchers then selected the leading women litigators across the legal industry who have led some of the most important litigation matters in recent history.

“Though they hail from widely different practice areas, they all share the distinction of being recognized as top players in their respective fields,” Benchmark said in its announcement.

Bindu Donovan has more than 20 years of experience in life sciences patent litigation, representing some of the world’s largest pharmaceutical and medical device companies in high-stakes patent disputes, including cases brought by innovator companies under the Hatch-Waxman Act. She has served as trial and litigation counsel in patent disputes involving biotechnology, radiofrequency ablation probes, drug-eluting stents, and treatments for cancer, influenza, diabetes, and neurological and ophthalmic disorders.

Leslie Spencer has spent more than two decades as a patent trial litigator focused on technology-related intellectual property disputes. She has extensive experience in the federal courts and before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). She has represented technology companies in matters involving computer software, automotive technology, financial services, blockchain, network communications, encryption and security protocols, semiconductors, and healthcare technology.
